What will Obama do about obesity and fast food?

I celebrate with the rest of the nation President Barack Obama's inaguration this week.

Now the hard work begins.

The nation is like a obese man. Years of an unregulated diet have led us to the brink of disease and disaster. It will take years to correct going forward. And it will be difficult, because no one wants to give up the "easy" life. No one wants to sacrifice. But in order to have change we all must change our behavior and habits.

How will Obama solve the nation's obesity problem? What will he do to stop the fast food advertising to our young people? Can he stop the proliferation of McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts next to our schools?

As I have said many times, nearly a third of Americans are obese and two-thirds overweight. Researches are predicting if this trend continues 80 percent of Americans will be obese in 30 years.

We must call on the new President and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tom Daschle, to immediately begin programs to halt obesity in this country, especially with the children.

During this recession/depression the President must ensure everyone has equal access to healthy food, not just the dollar menu.
